Would a wine by any other name taste as sweet?

It was brought to my attention by more than one person that they would like to suggest a name for the new winery. I guess Ebrietas is not the fan favorite that we thought. Being men of the people, we are happy to oblige and entertain some suggestions.

Please leave a comment with your suggestions for a winery name.

Quick note: vineyards and wineries are two different things. The name of the vineyard should designate the source of the grapes used to make the wine. The name of the winery can be different from the name of the vineyard or vineyards that they use to source their grapes or it can be the same if the winery grows its own grapes or does not wish to note the source.

Example: Loring Wine Company 2004 Pinot Noir, Durell Vineyard.

We are looking for a name for our winery. This is the name that will go on the bottle no matter where the grapes are from.

Choose wisely.

Hey Mike...love the blog! We all check it every week. Re the name...I realize that's a tough choice. If you're looking for something w/a Latin twist, I've always liked the name "Veritas," from the saying, "In vino, veritas."

Here's some more Latin for ya:

GENIUS LOCI. The spirit of the place

ITA VITA. So goes life.

SUMMUM OPUS: His greatest work.

AUDEAMUS: Let us dare

COR UNUM: One heart

TERRA NOVA: New land

I still like Hallywood & Vine but I was brutally shot down so I'm alittle wary of submitting another
I do like Caber-Heyyy but most people wouldn't get it and you would have to explain it...like Ebritas.

Fred,

I really like Ita Vita. This one should definitely be in the running.

I like Opus too, but, like Veritas, we have been beaten to the punch with Opus One in California.

Patty,

Shouldn't you be out tending to your vines and not blogging away?! Just kidding. I'm glad you are participating!

I think we need to start a regular segment where you taste wines and give your impressions and tasting notes.

I dont mind a playful or silly name as long as it isnt too cheesy or ridiculous. Lauren's suggestions are too silly and I just dont like Hallywood and Vine b/c it will be put on the shelf right next to Elvis Prestley The King's Cabernet.

Submit another suggestion!
